Dr. Johnson-Farr was born and raised in Lincoln and is the Dwight E. Porter Professor of Education at Doane University. Named a Lincoln High School Distinguished Alumni, she began her teaching career with Lincoln Public Schools in 1974 as a teacher’s aide before becoming a teacher and a district-wide leader of professional development.
Dr. Johnson-Farr’s commitment to the Lincoln community spans decades as a director on the boards of the Woods Charitable Fund, Children’s Museum, Lincoln Police Advisory Board, Nebraska Loves Public Schools, Malone Center, Friendship Home, among others. She has served as a consultant for the Nebraska Department of Education and Lincoln Public Schools.
Ensuring all students receive a high quality education should be the top priority of the board. Dr. Farr will fight for policies to improve academic outcomes and prepare students for success after school.
In order for us to provide quality education, LPS needs to recruit more educators and retain the teachers we currently have. Dr. Farr will support policies to bring more teachers into our classrooms and keep them here.
Every student's path to success is unique. Whether that path is college, a trade school, joining the workforce, or serving in our military, LPS should be supporting students on their pathway to success.
